Terms of Use
Last updated: 13 May 2026
1. Introduction
These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of easl.space and related services (the "Platform") operated by Easl Space ("we", "us", "our").
Easl Space is a technology platform. It is not a landlord, studio operator, agent, insurer, broker, escrow agent, or party to any Booking.
By creating an account, listing a space, making a booking, or otherwise using the Platform, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Platform.
Other documents form part of your relationship with us where we say so, including our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy (linked in the site footer). Nothing in these Terms limits statutory rights that apply to you as a consumer under UK law.
2. Definitions
• Artist (or Renter) — someone who books studio time through the Platform.
• Host (or Studio Owner) — someone who lists a creative studio or space for booking.
• Listing — a space and related information published on the Platform.
• Booking — a confirmed reservation between an Artist and a Host for use of a Listing, facilitated through the Platform.
3. Eligibility and accounts
3.1 You must be at least 18 to use the Platform.
3.2 You must provide accurate, current registration information and keep it updated.
3.3 You are responsible for safeguarding your login details and for activity under your account. Tell us promptly at hello@easl.space if you suspect unauthorised access.
3.4 We may suspend or terminate accounts where we reasonably believe these Terms have been broken, or to protect users, the Platform, or our legal position.
4. Listings (Hosts)
4.1 Hosts are responsible for the accuracy of Listings (availability, pricing, access, rules, photos, and what is included).
4.2 By listing a space, you represent that you have the right to offer it for the bookings you accept (for example permission from a landlord or co-occupier where that applies).
4.3 We may remove or restrict Listings that appear misleading, unsafe, unlawful, or incompatible with the Platform.
4.4 Insurance, licences, and compliance — Hosts are responsible for any insurance, licences, or regulatory requirements that apply to their space and how it is used. We do not verify that every Listing meets every legal requirement unless we say otherwise in a separate verification or policy page.
5. Bookings and your relationship with other users
5.1 When a Booking is confirmed through the Platform, the contract for use of the space is between the Host and the Artist. Easl Space provides the marketplace and payment technology; we are not the landlord or studio operator.
5.2 Hosts and Artists must honour confirmed Bookings (subject to cancellation rules shown on the Platform and any lawful remedy).
5.3 You must use messaging and payments on the Platform as we require for bookings, and you must not attempt to circumvent fees or undermine trust (for example by soliciting off-platform payment to avoid our service).
5.4 Safety and conduct on site — Hosts and Artists are responsible for their own safety and behaviour during a session. Report concerns to us and, where appropriate, to the relevant authorities.
5.5 Insurance — Artists are encouraged to consider appropriate insurance (for example covering personal liability, equipment, artwork in transit, and public liability) before using a Listing. Easl Space does not provide, arrange, broker, or underwrite insurance, and is not an insurance intermediary. Artists are responsible for any loss, damage, theft, or injury they suffer or cause in connection with a Booking. Except where required by law, Easl Space is not liable for any such loss, damage, theft, or injury.
6. Fees and payments (Stripe)
6.1 Payments are processed by Stripe (including Stripe Connect where used for Host payouts). Card and bank details are handled under Stripe’s terms and privacy policy, not stored as full payment credentials on our servers.
6.2 Service fees — We charge fees to operate the Platform. Amounts and structure are shown at checkout or in your Host payout flow before you confirm. Unless the Platform shows otherwise, fees are calculated from the booking subtotal using configurable percentages: a platform fee typically added on the Artist side (default 10% of subtotal) and a host service fee typically deducted from the Host share (default 5% of subtotal). Host service fees may be waived for eligible Hosts (for example an introductory number of confirmed bookings or beta participants), as shown in the product.
6.3 You authorise us and Stripe to charge, hold, transfer, and refund amounts in line with Bookings, these Terms, and what is shown in the checkout flow.
6.4 Taxes — You are responsible for any taxes that apply to your fees, payouts, or use of the Platform, as required by law.
7. Cancellations and refunds
7.1 Cancellation and refund rules depend on what is shown before you confirm a Booking (including any policy set for that Listing or the flow at that time).
7.2 Refunds, when due, are processed through the payment system; timing may depend on banks and card networks.
7.3 We may withhold or allocate fees in line with the cancellation outcome and how the Platform is configured, consistent with these Terms.
8. Damage and incident reporting
8.1 Artists are liable for any damage they cause to a Host's space, fixtures, equipment, or property during a Booking, beyond reasonable wear and tear and beyond marks, stains, or other consequences that would reasonably be expected from use of the space consistent with the Listing's stated purpose and rules (for example paint spillage in a painting studio, clay residue in a ceramics workshop, or charcoal dust in a life-drawing space). Hosts are responsible for setting out in the Listing any specific media, materials, or activities that are not permitted, and any clean-up expectations.
8.2 Hosts may notify Easl Space of damage within 48 hours of the Booking checkout time, providing photographic evidence and a written description. Submitting a report does not oblige Easl Space to take any action. Reports submitted after 48 hours may not be considered.
8.3 Where a Host reports damage, Easl Space may pass the report to the Artist and provide messaging tools to support communication between the parties. Easl Space does not mediate, arbitrate, or determine liability for damage disputes. Any charge for damage will only be made with the Artist's prior written agreement or as otherwise permitted by law.
8.4 Easl Space does not hold security deposits, indemnify Hosts or Artists, guarantee payment of damage claims, or act as insurer or guarantor for either party. Where disputes cannot be resolved between the parties, Hosts and Artists may need to pursue resolution directly or through legal channels.
9. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
• break the law or infringe others’ rights;
• post unlawful, fraudulent, defamatory, harassing, or discriminatory content, or malware;
• scrape or misuse the Platform, probe our systems without permission, or impersonate others;
• use the Platform for anything that puts users or our infrastructure at risk.
We may remove content, limit features, or suspend access where we reasonably need to.
10. Content and intellectual property
10.1 Your content — You keep ownership of content you upload (for example Listing photos and descriptions). You grant Easl Space a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, display, adapt format, and distribute that content to operate, promote, and improve the Platform, in line with your in-product settings and our Privacy Policy.
10.2 Our content — The Easl Space name, logo, software, and other materials we provide are protected by intellectual property laws. Do not copy or misuse them except as allowed in writing.
10.3 Copyright concerns — If you believe content on the Platform infringes your rights, contact hello@easl.space with enough detail for us to review.
11. Reviews
Reviews should reflect genuine experiences. We may remove or limit reviews that appear fake, abusive, or that breach these Terms.
12. Disclaimers
12.1 The Platform and Listings are provided "as is" to the extent permitted by law. We do not guarantee uninterrupted service, that every Listing is accurate, or that every space is suitable for your project.
12.2 We are not responsible for the acts or omissions of Hosts, Artists, or third parties, or for the condition of any physical space.
13. Limitation of liability
13.1 To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law (including the Consumer Rights Act 2015 where it applies to you), we exclude liability for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, loss of data, or wasted expenditure.
13.2 Our total liability to you arising from or relating to the Platform or these Terms in any twelve-month period is limited to the total service fees you paid to us in that period, except where the law does not allow that cap (for example death or personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud).
13.3 Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under UK law.
14. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Easl Space (and our officers and staff) against claims, losses, and reasonable legal costs arising from: (i) your use of the Platform; (ii) your breach of these Terms; (iii) your Listing or Booking; or (iv) your content — except to the extent caused by our deliberate wrongdoing or where the law forbids indemnity.
15. Termination
15.1 You may stop using the Platform and may request account closure in line with in-product options or by contacting hello@easl.space.
15.2 We may suspend or terminate access where we need to enforce these Terms, comply with law, or protect users.
15.3 Provisions that should survive (fees accrued, liability limits, indemnity, governing law) continue where it makes sense after termination.
16. Changes
We may update these Terms. We will post the new version on this page and update the "Last updated" date. If changes are material, we will also try to notify you (for example by email or an in-product notice). Continued use after the effective date may constitute acceptance; if you do not agree, stop using the Platform and contact us.
17. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
If you are a consumer resident in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may bring legal proceedings in your local courts where UK consumer law allows. Otherwise, the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction over disputes arising from these Terms.
